Pores dilate especially during puberty, when the sebaceous glands remove more oil. Heredity is often a cause. Also, blackheads, pimples, improper face care and too much makeup can cause dilated pores, especially in the case of oily skin. Smoking and weather conditions, especially the sun, could aggravate large pores.
Pores can not be treated entirely, but may be diminished. There are some creams with benzoyl peroxide or beta hydroxy acids, which remove excess oil and dead skin build-up around the pores. Salicylic acid also prevents pore clogging, leading to pimples or blackheads formation.
To get a truly effective mask for large pores, you can combine a few tablespoons of tomato juice with two to three teaspoons of lemon juice.
Apply the mixture on your face with a cotton pad and gently massage the skin with circular motions. After 15-20 minutes, remove the mask with warm water.
Besides the beneficial effect of tomato juice, citric acid in lemon will prevent formation of blackheads.
